What is the earliest time I can check-in and the latest time I can check-out?

We kindly ask guests to arrive at 3pm and to depart at 12pm (noon). This window of time -- from noon to 3pm -- gives us time to clean and prepare the cabins for our next guests.

Are your cabins pet-friendly?

Yes, they are. Each cabin has a fenced-in yard to keep family pets in and curious coyotes out.  All the cabins can accommodate a well-behaved dog or cat. We can also make special arrangements for a horse at one of our cabins. Please call or email for details.

Are your cabins close to Joshua Tree National Park?

Yes. We have the only cabins adjacent to the remote Covington Flats entrance to the park. It is also minutes away from the west entrance of the park.

Are your cabins close to downtown Joshua Tree?

We're a ten-minute drive to the center of Joshua Tree. We're also close to Yucca Valley -- also about a ten-minute drive -- which has a greater offering of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. (About 4 miles to each.)

Do you live close by in case I have any questions?

Yes. Lori (the owner) lives on La Contenta Road -- the same street on which the Shell, Mountain, Ranch, Aurora, and Rock houses reside. She's generally around should you have any questions while visiting. Although she's close by, all of her cabins are private, secluded, and separate from her own home.

What is the weather like in the high desert?

Here in Joshua Tree, we have a change of seasons. In the winter you should bring a jacket and warmer clothes. Fall and Spring weather is beautiful.  Summer can get hot, though still 10-15 degrees cooler than Palm Springs.  All of our cabins have cooling and heating so you will be comfortable during any time of year.

I had such a magical time when I visited your cabins. I'd like to have my upcoming birthday party/wedding/documentary take place at Thunderbird Lodge Retreat. Do you welcome large groups and special events?
